"Leaping From Ordinary Into Extraordinary"

I've finally decided to post my "Altered Art Book".
The gals of Airdrie 7, are doing these books, each chosing a theme. We firstly work in our own books, then rotate them so we each work in everyone's book. It is sooooooooo addicting, really, when I start, I find it hard to put the book down. Hope you enjoy these as much as we do, also hope they give you courage to "Leap From Ordinary Into The Extraordinary. xo me

"The Opening of My Book" My Poem!

Daring to leave behind the "Ordinary". Thats a brave thought. So many times I can get caught in my comfort zone, when I know something out there is calling me to come higher, perhaps even leap into the "Extraordinary" My own fears want to hold me back. So back in January, I decided to write my first poem in years to myself. Hope it inspires you to go for your dreams too!
Words and Poem are copywrighted. Please be kind and request to use! Thanks.

"Laughter Is Great Medicine (For The Human Heart)!

"Make Happy those who are near, and those who are far will come!"
Did you know that children laugh more than 200 times a day? Adults tend to get stressed out with life. and forget about Joy. So today I grant you permission to have yourself a "Belly Laugh" like a little child again!

"Think "PAW"sitive Mixed Media on Paper

This creation was done for a demo for a Children's class I was asked to teach at the Library, on Feb 20.
I have to say that I was very impressed with the interest and talent these young artists are bringing to the table. I had 17 students and they were soooooo good! It was indeed a pleasure to be with them, and I feel richer for it. While having taught children for 13 plus years, is had been a while since I have had a 3 year old in my lap. She too was intent on creating masterpieces. The students were from 3 - 12, and I thought I should post some of their amazing talent, so buckle up and enjoy!!! Special thanks to Ryan, who is on staff at the Library, and helps with the Children's class! (I should mention that some of these works are built up with many layers of patience from these "Awesome Budding Artists" Way to go Team!!!! I apologize to the students whose work is not displayed here. While we did take many photos, not sure why some did not turn out.

O.K. so here we have my mixed media hound on the left and this lovely pooch on the right. The class is eager and progressing. There is creativity buzzing all around the room, not to mention "Tim Bits" for snacks once we are done!

"Madeleine" 12 X 36 Mixed Media on Canvas

Another piece from my "Funky Women" series. This is "Madeleine" dressed up for spring and ready to go. I thought I would incorporate a "French Hat" to this one and am so glad I did. She was meant to encourage women, young and old . She could be you and she could be me, but "Be The Best You, That You Can BE!!!"

"Mixed Media" on "Altered Canvas"

Sometimes you can have a grand old time sorting through little things that once meant something to you. Taking the old and making something new is what "Mixed Media Artistry" is all about.
The photo transfer on the right was dipped into Encaustic wax. Even the once worn accessories can add a nice touch! By reclaiming the old, you can come up with the "New"

"Karen The Baker" 16 x 20 Oil on Canvas

The lovely "Karen" greets you today! It gave me such pleasure to do this for her and she loves it. She is a very, kind, goodhearted lady who bakes delicious treasures for all! If in the Didsbury area, be sure to stop by and taste her dainties, yummy soups and sandwiches. Always a pleasure to meet downhome people who take great pleasure in making people feel at home. Hats off to you "Karen"!
